- 1). Remove the thin pieces of wood from one of the pallets. Leave the thick wood alone.
- 2). Lay the pallet without the thin strips on the ground, so the open center square faces upward. Label the sides "A," "B," "C" and "D" clockwise around the pallet. Place a 2-inch by 4-inch by 36-inch piece of wood against one corner on side "A" with the 4-inch side touching the wood, and the 2-inch by 4-inch end facing up. Nail the wood into place. Put at least three nails in the board. Repeat this procedure on the other corner on side A.
- 3). Nail a 4-inch by 36-inch piece of wood on both corners of side C.
- 4). Stack two cinder blocks on top of each other on the pallet in side A and C. The blocks work as a brace for the next piece of wood.
- 5). Place the other pallet on top of the cinder blocks. It should fit in the center of the wood pieces that you nailed on. Nail the pallet into place.
- 6). Wrap the chicken wire or hardware cloth around the sides of the hen house. Cut off the excess wire. Staple the wire into place.
- 7). Place a piece of chicken wire or hardware cloth over the top, and staple it into place. It helps repel predators. Open the tarp, and put it over the top. Fold the sides, so the tarp is only covering the top, and staple it in place. Place the 8-foot-long 2-by-4 against side B at the top. Center it so it has at least 1 foot hanging off each end. The part hanging off creates the handles for the hen house. Nail the board into place. Put the other 8-foot piece on side D, and nail it into place.
- 8). Move the hen house to the desired location, and put a milk crate inside near the edge. Put some hay in the crate before placing it in the hen house. Remove eggs by lifting the side of the hen house and reaching into the crate.
- 9). Put up to four chickens in the hen house by lifting the edge of the house up and sliding the chickens into the house. Chickens like attention, so just carry them to their new home.
