How To Clean Green
What To Look For In A Cleaning Solution
Well in fact you can't be a hundred percent sure if the product you're using is completely made form natural ingredients. All you can do is see what the label says which is not always enough and complete. In fact the manufacturers are legally relieved form the obligation of writing all the ingredients on the label. Whenever you see a sign 'trade secret' I recommend you leave the product because in most cases there are chemicals in this particular product.
I have came to the realisation that the most green products are those for babies, they are fragrance free, don't contain parabens and the ingredients are plant based. They're perfect for the sensitive skin of your child and don't cause allergies. Also look for those cleaning products which are completely biodegradable. You can easily see if the product is good enough - plant based cleaners don't make a lot of foam and don't leave sticky residue.
The Alternative
If you can't find the proper home and carpet cleaning solution there is another way to keep your home in perfect condition - make your own detergents. You can easily do this by using common household ingredients. Probably the most popular cleaner is baking soda, since so many people recommend it it has to work. I have tried it in a few occasions and it hasn't disappointed me so far, another popular cleaner is white vinegar - I can't say a lot because it really dislike the smell of it and don't use it.
Salt is also included in some recipes because it has absorbent qualities as well as baking soda. You probably know how toxic and dangerous bleach is and wonder how to replace it with something greener. There are the so called oxy-cleaners which contain little chemicals and also there is hydrogen peroxide which is wonderful because not only it whitens the clothes and fabric but turns into water after a while.
