Wildflowers

• Round up backyard blooms or pick some in a neighboring field to use as a simple decoration for a Western centerpiece. Get creative with the container; anything rustic works for this type of centerpiece. Consider using a metal pail, a rusted toolbox or old crockery. Rummage through a local antique store or flea market for old teapots or water pitchers to use as a vase. Make sure you put enough water and flower food in each container to help keep flowers fresh. • Cowboy apparel can work to your advantage for both dressing the wedding party and decorating the reception tables. Take a cowboy boot, new or old, and stuff it with a piece of flower foam. • Put old farm gear into use to make an extraordinary centerpiece. A small wagon wheel, barn lantern or hay bale can serve as the main piece in a Western centerpiece composition. Place a miniature hale bale on the table and lean a wagon wheel next to the bale. Cover the wheel in color coordinating wildflowers. If hay does not work for you, try a barn lantern works to light up a late afternoon or evening wedding reception. Place a candle inside and light to give each table a soft glow.
