Planning a vacation and picking the perfect beach hotel in Phuket, Thailand may seem daunting at first, but there is no need to worry. The charming beach of Kamala is an ideal holiday destination for its intimate setting, and you'll find it easy to enjoy your stay with the help of these helpful tips.

Accommodation. Because it is less commercialized compared to other beaches in Thailand, finding a decent Kamala Beach hotel is quite easy. You can choose accommodations at the southern beachside area or at the north near the local police station. Either way, you will have a wide range of choices that cover the whole spectrum from budget rooms to high-end lodgings. Depending on how much you are willing to spend, you pretty much can have your pick of bungalows and huts that are quite suitable, with rates ranging from 500 to 2000 Baht a night.

Dining. If you plan on skipping the usual hotel servings, you will find several outdoor restaurants and food stalls along the beach road, and you can easily have your fill of Thai cuisine there. You might want to think twice about ordering seafood, for although they are readily available, they can be quite expensive. If you are craving for some Western food you will have to settle for mainly Scandinavian fare, as the place is most frequented by Scandinavian visitors. You won't be finding Western fast food in the vicinity either.

Nightlife. The bar scene is quite tame in Kamala. Not surprising, since you go to Kamala for the peace and quiet, not the frenetic entertainment scene. You will find enough bars along Kamala Beach Road to keep you occupied, but you'll have to venture out of the area to popular party haunts such as Patong, if you want to be where the action is.

Shopping. Again, the place is not exactly known to be a shopper's destination, but you will find the usual souvenir shops, mini-marts, supermarkets, and even tailor shops that will sufficiently supply your needs.

Attractions. There are only two main tourist draws in Kamala. One is the Kamala Wat, a Buddhist temple located south of the beach that features a large collection of Buddha statues and images. The other is the Phuket Fantasea, a theme park that showcases a magnificent theatrical rendition of Thai culture and traditions while you enjoy a buffet dinner during the performance.

By keeping these tips in mind, you can book that beach hotel in Phuket you've been eyeing and enjoy a Kamala Beach vacation easily. Happy holiday!
