Managing Your Time for Maximum Financial Benefits
I recently read a book by: Larry Wingett called: "You're broke because you want to be.
" In this book, he made a very, very important point about the link between how people manage their money and how they manage their time and the rest of their lives.
He said that people who overspend usually overeat; they're usually disorganized and unfocused.
He then made the point that if you want to achieve financial freedom, one of the most important things you would do is get the rest of your life in order.
One of the best ways to start doing this is to manage your time wisely.
Let's look at some simple strategies...
Managing Your Time by Managing Your Energy The effective management of your time is really about how you manage your energy.
For example, if you have a lot of spare time, but you expend your energy on unimportant things for the first several hours of the day, the rest of the day is not likely to be productive.
So many people wait until the end of the day to do the things which they say are their top priority.
Try this...
For the next week, get up 20 minutes earlier you normally would and spend that 20 minutes doing something which you've been putting off or which you've been having a hard time finding the energy to do.
This will accomplish two things: first you'll get the most important thing taken care of while you still have plenty of energy.
Second, it will help you to face the mundane things of the day with the confidence that you've put first things first.
Have a Written Plan, Just Do It If you were to build a house, you wouldn't dare let the builder start working unless they first had a blueprint.
They would know absolutely every detail before the first shovel of dirt was turned.
Why then are we so careless when it comes to our time, which is our most valuable asset? I simply can't tell you how important it is for you to have a WRITTEN plan for how you're going to manage your energy.
Do this every night before you go to bed, even if you think you don't have the time.
If you do these things, you'll get SO much more out of the time that you already have, and this habit of good time management will make it easier for you to create and to stick with a plan for creating financial freedom.
