- Ben is the hero of the series, the "Ben 10" of the title. He possesses a device called the Omnitrix, which looks like a large wristwatch. When he activates it, he can assume the form of a number of different alien creatures, each with its own powers and abilities. (In the original "Ben 10," Ben could turn into 10 different creatures. New creatures were added for "Alien Force.") Like most of the other main characters, he is a teenager during the period covered by "Alien Force." Ben is voiced by actor Yuri Lowenthal in the show.
- Gwen is Ben's cousin. She's the same age as Ben and accompanies him on his adventures. Gwen possesses magical powers, allowing her to create bolts of energy, shields and other objects composed of pink, glowing power. She's very sarcastic and feisty, though less short-tempered than she was in the original "Ben 10." Actress Ashley Johnson provides Gwen's voice.
- Kevin is a half-human/half alien teenager who began as a villain in the original "Ben 10." He eventually sees the error of his ways and joins Ben as an ally, as well as being Gwen's nascent boyfriend. He still retains a sense of self-righteousness and tends to hold a grudge far longer than other characters on the show. His alien physiology gives him the power to absorb energy and use it as he wishes, particularly to change shape. Actor Greg Cripes does voiceover duties for Kevin Levin.
- Julie is a new character to "Ben 10: Alien Force;" unlike Ben, Gwen and Kevin, she didn't appear in the original "Ben 10" series. She's an Asian American of Japanese descent, who Ben is attracted to and eventually asks out. Julie has no specific powers herself, but she does develop a psychic rapport with Ship, the team's sentient vessel/sidekick. She plays tennis quite often and is very good at school, helping Ben with his homework when they aren't saving the world from various intergalactic threats. Julie is voiced by actress Vyvan Pham.
