How to Apply Face Makeup for a Smooth Finish
- 1). Apply moisturizer to the entire face and neck. Don't forget to apply moisturizer to the eyelids, under the eyes, and the lips. Allow the moisturizer to soak in for 10 minutes.
- 2). Dab concealer on the skin in dots and use the tip of a concealer brush to blend the outside edges until no line of demarcation can be found. Use a concealer that is about one shade lighter than your skin tone to camouflage under eye circles any dark imperfections in the skin.
- 3). Dot foundation all over the face using a wedge-shaped makeup sponge.
- 4). Use a foundation brush to evenly spread the foundation. Use an upward motion to avoid pulling the skin down. On the nose it is acceptable to use downward sweeps. Blend the foundation into the hairline and jaw line until a smooth makeup finish is achieved.
- 5). Dab a large powder brush into loose translucent powder and shake off the excess. Using an upward sweeping motion, dust the face with the loose powder.
- 6). Apply blush to the cheekbones and the temples using an angled blush brush. Use upward sweeping motions to apply the blush just along the line of the cheekbone decreasing the intensity of color towards the hairline. Use a makeup sponge to smooth away any excess blush.
- 7). Use a flat eyeshadow brush with a rounded edge to press shadow into the eyelid. The edge of the brush should press down into the lash line to insure that makeup is covering the entire eyelid. When applying multiple colors, stroke a blender brush in a windshield wiper motion between the colors to help them fade together gradually.
