There are a number of ways to raise your metabolism.
You can drink green tea and eat cayenne pepper.
But this article is going to focus on the best way to effectively raise your metabolism and turn you body into a 24 hour a day fat burning furnace.
It's called lifting weights.
That's right.
You might be able to burn more calories in a half hour of running than lifting weights but once you stop running the fat burning effects also stop.
Once you stop lifting weights that's when the fat burning effects start.
This is because muscle weighs more than fat so your body has to work harder and, consequently, burns more fat throughout the day, even in your sleep.
But the types of exercises you do are very important as well.
You will want to do multi joint or compound exercises which work multiple muscle groups at the same time.
These are exercises like the bench press, pull ups, the clean and jerk, one armed dumb bell snatches and others.
These exercises cause your body to exert so much effort that it goes into a state of metabolic shock and burns calories at a higher rate long after the workout is over.
To increase this effect even more you will want to do what is called high intensity interval training with a kettlebell.
HIIT is simply moving from one exercise to another with only a short rest in between.
This promotes rapid fat loss even in the few minutes that the exercises last because they are so exhausting.
