  • 1). Take a shower or hold a hot wash cloth over your face for 30 seconds to open your pores and soften the whiskers on your face.

  • 2). Wash your face using an exfoliating moisturizer. Rub the soap in a circular motion around your face. This will slough off dead skin cells, allowing you to get a closer shave.

  • 3). Lather your face evenly with shaving cream, but don't put too much on because an it will just get in your way.

  • 4). Shave towards your chin because this is the direction your hair grows, and you always want to shave in the direction that your hair grows.

  • 5). Rinse off your razor as you shave in order to keep the razor clean, so it can give you a better shave.

  • 6). Wash your face thoroughly with cold water when you're done shaving.

  • 7). Apply aftershave or toner to your face. Follow this up with a moisturizer.
