Plan The Perfect Wedding in 30 Days: Destination Weddings
After considering all the locations in the world, you and your fiance have finally decided to have a destination wedding - hooray! Destination weddings give the actual marriage celebration a unique touch that you, your fiance and your guests will remember forever.
When settling on your destination, keep in mind the number of people you are inviting and your budget.
If there is an intimate and exclusive resort you would love to be married in, keep the guest list to very close family and friends.
Equally important is your budget: a super exclusive and pricey resort is not going to work out for a low-budget wedding.
Additionally, there are LOADS of important things for you to remember to take care of beforehand: Hotels: Go through the endless hotels and resorts that offer exclusive packages for wedding parties in your destination of choice.
If your destination includes an on-site hotel, many places offer discounted room blocks.
However, discounted room blocks can also be found in major city hotels as long as you contact them early and let your guests know to book early.
Planner: Some destination places offer in-house wedding coordinators.
Be sure to check out his or her work before accepting their services entirely.
It's totally acceptable to have your own wedding planner work simultaneously or in conjunction with the resort coordinator.
On-Site Visit: While I realize this may be a bit more difficult, it is so important that you try to make a pre-wedding, on-site visit to really visualize what you want specifically for your wedding day.
From the menu to the actual ceremony set-up, it is worth the few extra hundred dollars to get to your resort or location once before the big-weekend.
It will give you confidence in your design direction as well as piece of mind as to what it truly looks like (compared to internet photos).
Welcome Bags: These are so fantastic and meaningful to guests when they are checking in for the big weekend! Assess your budget and do the best you can with these pre-wedding favors - if you have a small budget, keep the welcome bags simple: a bottle of water and some cookies will do just fine.
Throw in some brochures about special resort-services and activities.
If you're working with a bigger budget, then go all out: personalized bags, airplane bottles, snacks to last the weekend.
Trust me, the guests will definitely remember these! Extracurriculars - Perhaps the best part about a destination wedding is that guests get to enjoy a whole weekend of fun simply because they love you! They've come all that way to support you and your fiance, it's important to show a little love back.
Have fun activities lined up for guests to participate in, whether it be a deep-sea fishing excursion, a snow-shoe trek, Broadway show, or hour at the spa.
Farewell Brunch: Before everyone dashes off to hit the road or catch flights, offer a farewell brunch the morning after your wedding.
Everyone will be recalling all the great fun from the night before and entire weekend and it gives you and your new husband the chance to tell them, one more time, just how grateful you are that they came!
