How to Find Out If a Check I Deposited Into My Account Has Cleared
- 1). Gather the documents needed to verify your account. If inquiring in person, you'll need your state-issued ID or driver's license as well as your account number. If inquiring by phone, you'll need your account number, and you'll need to verify personal information, such as your date of birth or the last four digits of your Social Security number.
- 2). At your bank, speak with a personal banker, if possible, rather than a teller. A personal banker can check on the status of a check and find out if it has cleared from the issuing bank or financial institution.
- 3). Call your bank. Most larger banks have customer service numbers specifically for these inquiries. You can usually find the number on the back of your bank debit card or account documents. If you cannot find the number, contact a nearby branch to get it.
