Technologies in web design are prone to change and what is in vogue today among web designers is likely to be replaced by more powerful alternative in near future. Nowadays there are plenty of applications for designing stunning websites. However, some applications and web development technologies have withstood the test of time and they have been in demand over the years. One such instance is Adobe Flash. Flash web design has not lost its sheen despite the arrival of several new technologies. A huge number of web developers prefer Flash design for making stunning and dynamic websites. Flash offers superior animation methods and it is powered by Action Script, a versatile scripting language.
However, everything is not rosy about Flash design. Apple has staunchly refused to provide support for Flash in all of its devices so far. The mobile web browsers often offer partial support for Flash. Some of them still do not support Flash at all. The latest buzz doing the rounds in the web development industry are about the future of Flash design India. Of late newer technologies have appeared in the horizon and they are also enjoying the backing of some big players in web technology. Microsoft Silverlight is one such instance. However, the web developers are more upbeat about the prospects of CSS3.
Flash has suffered from search engine related issues over the years. The search engine bots tend to avoid Flash heavy websites. The open source web developers who believe the web development apps should be made freely accessible do not endorse flash. CSS3 is also friendlier to the mobile web access devices including the smartphones which is not the case with Flash. As far as learning curve is concerned, CSS3 races ahead of Flash by a large margin. Flash is not much easy to learn and may require years for a developer to master. CSS3 requires far less learning time compared to Flash.
It is too early to say whether CSS3 will succeed Flash as far as web design and animation is concerned. There is no denying that CSS3 has some inherent advantages over Flash. This is because CSS3 also comes with a number of caveats. At the time of its invention, CSS3 was not supported uniformly across various web browsers. Compared to that Flash is supported by all web browsers except Safari that comes from the stable of Apple. As far as making complex animations is concerned Flash is far better than CSS3.
The industry veterans are of the opinion that CSS3 will play a role in reducing the market monopoly of Flash. The web design professionals weary of the limitations of Flash now have an alternative that can do almost everything Flash can, in a simpler way. However, the large market share of Flash is not going to erode away overnight. The web design industry is adapting CSS3 but the pace is not rapid. The standard also needs to be tweaked to conform to the web 2.0 design trends. The browser compatibility issues also need to be resolved fast. A lot will depend on how the rivals of Adobe warm up to CSS3. For example, Apple may help CSS3 win a part of the market hitherto dominated by Flash. This is a possibility considering the fact that Safari was the first browser to offer full support for CSS3.
