I wanted to write an article about building a relationship by using a follow up email system.
There are many ways it can help you in your business and to provide a way to stay in touch with people interested in your site.
I want to let you know where you can go to get signed up, what you need to put on your site, how to get people to sign up for your mailing list, and a little psychology to understand your customers.
I will show you how to stay in touch with people and grow your business.
Number 1: You will need to go sign up with a company that provides email marketing campaigns.
A couple that come to mind are Aweber and Getresponse.
I use Aweber personally but you use Google and find the one that works best for you.
Make sure to do your due diligence and see if they have tutorials to help you.
This goes a long way and shows the company cares about their customers and are willing to help.
Number 2: Set up an opt-in form on your website that offers something of value to your customers.
Like I said above, the company should have tutorials to help you with this step.
It is actually really simple once you know how to do it and if you are using WordPress, and I highly recommend you do, then it is really easy and I know they have tutorials for you.
Number 3: Create a small little guide or report to give to people that solves a problem.
Just write a step by step document that walks someone how to do something.
Make sure you are very specific, one problem one solution is all you need, don't go on and on about off topic stuff.
Write it like it is an instruction manual you would be making for your grandmother.
Keep it simple and to the point.
Number 4: Another way to get people to sign up for your list is offer a mini course.
This is the same concept as the free guide or report only you give people one step a day that is a little more detailed.
Of course you need to think a little here you don't want to offer a course on fixing a leaky pipe if they can't fix it completely for another five days.
This should have a complete step so they can absorb the information and understand it well enough that the next email will make sense.
The next email must also build on the last one like a ladder taking one rung at a time.
Number 5: You need to care about the people you are emailing to.
Show them that you will help them this will build credit that your actually human and not someone out just get their money.
Give them tips and advice, and please do not send out a bunch of sales emails that is a sure-fire way to lose a customer.
Make a video of yourself talking so they can relate to you and see you as a real person and not just some wizard behind the email curtain.
Once you build up a good report with them and show them that you are someone they can trust, then you can start giving advice and suggestions on products that they could buy that will help them.
I do mean products or services that will actually help, not spam.
Number 6: Once you have people signed up to your list you need to provide them with relevant and up to date content.
Give them something they can use that will help solve a problem.
Find all the usual problems that might be a simple solution for you now but to someone new could be keeping them frustrated and confused.
Just make a list of things you needed to learn and write an email about how to overcome it.
Number 7: This is the best way to give your list solutions to problems they need solved and that is by asking them.
Every month have one email that asks them what problems they are having.
You really don't need to guess or try to be a mind reader.
People might be struggling with something you might not have thought of before.
Wouldn't it feel great to know exactly what your list wants and then be able to give it to them? Of course it would and this will help build a relationship letting them know they can trust you as a good source to go to.
There you have it, seven tips on using follow up emails for your business.
By building your list you are staying in contact with potential customers and getting your new content out to people about your site.
It is better to have a customer for life than just a one time shopper that you have no way of keeping in touch with.
