How to Install a Hand-Woven Hammock
- 1). Search for two trees that are 12 inches farther apart than the length of the hand-woven hammock if it has spreader bars at each end. For example, if the hammock is 7 feet long, the distance between the trees should be 8 feet. If the hammock has no bars, the distance between the trees should be 2/3 the length of the hammock.
- 2). Walk to one of the trees and wrap a 2- to 3-foot long bungee cord around it approximately 4 feet from the ground for hammocks with spreader bars and 6 to 8 feet for other hammocks. If the bungee cord has a loop at one end, pull the other end through the loop to secure it. If it has hooks, secure the hooks together to hold the cord tightly to the tree.
- 3). Repeat the process to install another bungee cord on the opposite tree in the same manner and at the same height.
- 4). Insert a metal S hook into the hanging loop at one end of the hammock and then hang the other end of the S hook on the bungee cord of one tree.
- 5). Insert another S hook into the hanging loop on the other end of the hammock. Hang the S hook on the bungee cord of the other tree.
