- 1). Unplug the RENA SmartFilter system.
- 2). Remove the top cover of the filter by twisting the knobs located on the top.
- 3). Remove the filter cartridge from the filter housing. Dispose of the cartridge.
- 4). Pour a small amount of water from the fish tank into the filter housing, using a small cup.
- 5). Scrub the internal walls of the filter housing with a small filter brush. Filter brushes can be purchased online or at any pet store that sells fish supplies.
- 6). Inset a new RENA SmartFilter cartridge into the cartridge holder of the filter housing.
- 7). Plug in the filter system.
