Carol of the Day
With its beautifully-written lyrics and solemn melody, "O Holy Night" remains a favorite carol for many. This carol was translated from French to English by John Sullivan Dwight.
Composer of the Day
Frederick Delius was a prolific English composer of choral and orchestral music who helped revive English music during the late 19th century to the 1930s. Although he was born in Yorkshire, he spent most of his life in France.

Some of his notable works include "Brigg Fair," "Sea Drift," "Appalachia" and "A Village Romeo and Juliet." There is a film titled "Song of Summer" which was based on a memoir ("Delius as I knew him") written by Eric Fenby; Delius' assistant. The said film was directed by Ken Russell and aired in 1968.

Today in Music History
On this day in 1770, composer Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, a part of the Austrian empire. Beethoven was one of the great composers of the Classical period. He became deaf in his late 20s (some books say in his 30s) but continued to compose music that is still much appreciated to this day. He wrote "Symphony No. 2, op. 36 (D Major)," Symphony No. 3 Eroica, op. 55 (E flat Major)," "Symphony No. 4, op. 60 (B flat Major)" and other great masterpieces when he was almost completely deaf.

The Polar Express - Christmas is fast approaching and it's the perfect time to watch movie musicals that celebrate this season. Watching movie musicals is one of the easiest way to nurture your child's interest in music.

Let's start off with my personal favorite Christmas film - "The Polar Express".
