Texas Law for Using Razor Wire
- Fences that use razor wire to fence against animals that are permitted to run at-large must consist of three wires with posts no more than 30 feet apart. Further, the fence must be at least four feet high according to Section 153.028 of the Texas Agricultural Code.
- Any freeholder in Texas can petition the commissioner's court to determine whether three barbed wires without a board are sufficient fence for the petitioned area according to Section 143.028 (c) of the Texas Agricultural Code. As such, the court may also be petitioned for exceptions involving the use of razor wire.
- Razor wire cannot be disposed of in any "canal, lateral, reservoir, or lake" as stated in Section 11.090 of the Texas Water Code.
