How to Refinish Claw Foot Tubs and Enamel Sinks
- 1). Wash the claw foot bathtub and enamel sink with a trisodium phosphate cleanser, using a coarse sponge. Rinse the fixtures with wet rags and dry them with towels.
- 2). Cover areas on and adjacent to the claw foot bathtub and enamel sink that you do not wish to refinish with masking paper. Tape down the paper with painter's tape. Cover the floor around to the bathtub's claw feet with masking paper.
- 3). Cover the floor beneath each fixture with heavy-duty fabric drop cloths.
- 4). Abrading the claw foot bathtub and enamel sink with sandpaper. Scour both fixtures until they feel slightly coarse.
- 5). Put on your respirator. Coat the abraded claw foot bathtub and enamel sink with acrylic latex spray primer. Hold the can 8 inches from each surface as you apply. Wait four hours for the primed fixtures to dry.
- 6). Coat the primed claw foot bathtub and enamel sink with appliance epoxy spray paint. Hold the can 8 inches from each surface as you apply. Wait 12 hours before using the sink or bathtub.
