Meditation with Affirmations as your Guides

When we are going to meditate it usually involves a process of relaxation and breathing techniques. The first step is finding a quiet place to do this. Once you do find you meditation spot you should always return to it for reasons of consistency. What you are doing during the process is accessing the subconscious mind and upon the first few attempts at meditation you are tuning your body and your subconscious mind to this new environment. Meditation is similar to any other form of exercise because there is a level of focus involved.

When you run you focus on moving your legs, arms and your breathing. As you can see meditation then is very similar. You focus on your posture, whether you are sitting, lying down or standing, (this standing meditation I will touch on in another article). The main point is your level of focus and what it is you are focusing on. Of course what is the reason for meditating in the first place? Normally people use meditation for relaxation or to help change something in their lives.

Meditation

Above I mentioned returning to the same place to meditate as a matter of consistency. You do this because once you find your spot you subconscious mind becomes familiar with it just like you grow comfortable in a known environment such as a friend's company. Meditation trains your mind to focus on a single thought or a series of images i.e. thoughts that convey a singular idea. The first and difficult thing is to allow any miscellaneous thoughts pass through or come then go out of you conscious mind. The process is to access at state call the Alpha state. This is where you access the subconscious.

You enter this state by focusing on a single thought or point. For instance the tip of your nose if your eyes were open or with them closed looking up to the center of forehead. This state is the point of consciousness just before REM sleep and just before awakening. The alpha state mentioned above is where you're conscious to the point of being focused on one thing and nothing outside of it has any affect on you.  While in this state the subconscious mind is experiencing this environment and recording everything, the comfort, the focus, and most importantly the affirmation.

Affirmations

Affirmations work as a focal point to help narrow, what I call the ‘Thought field' down to a singularity i.e. the affirmation. The theory behind affirmations is that if a single statement of an idea is repeated enough the subconscious mind, will learn to believe it thus manifest it into reality. These affirmations act as guides, as such, for your mind. The technique used to apply an affirmation is to talk to yourself as if you were someone else. An example being:  "Bob", then state the affirmation as it is in a beginning state, "you are beginning to allow…" State the affirmation here.
