System Security Software Removal
- First step in removing the System Security spyware from your computer is to delete the files created by the Web parasite. Go to the "Start" menu, click on "Search" and then check the box next to "All Files and Folders" so that you are able to find all the traces of the software. Then type in "0308937.exe" in the search window and hit "Enter." The search will come back with a few files. The trick is that these files might be scattered all over your hard drive, which is why you need to delete all of the found entries. Repeat the search and delete mission for "pc00308937ins," "System Security 2009.lnk," "System Security 2009 Support.lnk," "System Security 2009.lnk" and "System Security."
- Now that you have deleted the files and folders associated with System Security, you will need to delete all of the registry entries created by the spyware. Go to the "Start" menu again and click on "Run." Then type "regedit" in the search line of the "Run" window and click on "OK" to launch the Windows Registry Editor. Once there, navigate to and delete the following registry values:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\00308937
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "00308937″
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\SystemSecurity2009
Restart your computer after you have deleted the last registry entry. - System Security spyware infects your computer system through backdoor trojans and certain malicious websites. Therefore, it's critical for you to always have some type of Web protection, such as anti-spyware or anti-virus software. It's also important to always download the latest updates of the virus and spyware definitions when you are prompted to do so by the application.
