Xupiter Toolbar
If Xupiter is installed to the system, it will hijack your browser startup page, and use a combination of Adware and Spyware to push banner advertising to your system and track your useage. To be fair, these intended actions are all spelled out clearly in their End-User Licensing Agreement (EULA), which states in part:
- "users web browser, start page, search page, auto search option, bookmarks and default error page will be changed, along with the Xupiter accessory toolbar added to the web browser. Active desktop panel will be installed on the users desktop which will enable active desktops on the system for special promotions. Our software license requires that users browser start page be set to Xupiter.com in order to continue use of the Xupiter toolbar, from time to time we verify that users start page url is set to Xupiter.com, if it is not we reserve the right to alter it back. That one section of the Xupiter EULA clearly demonstrates that prior to installing any software or agreeing to any action from any website, make sure you read the applicable license agreement and privacy policy.
Besides setting up an ad-factory on your desktop, Xupiter Toolbar has been known to cripple portions of the operating system, hide its files, and update itself to avoid removal.
