An NGO is a non government organization which works for no intention of generating profits by any means. It is also that organization which promotes a certain cause or a set of causes in the public opinion. These are the main characteristic of Relief India Trust or any other NGO which distinguishes it from the rest of the non state organizations such as multinational companies. The NGOs do have money making programs like fund raising and publications, but the money they generate is used for charitable works or managing the cost of the internal operation of the NGO including managerial cost and salaries etc. That is the basic structure of the Relief India Trust as well.

Scale of an NGO:

The scale of an NGO is one of the vital characteristic which defines the scope of operation of an NGO. An NGO might operate at the following scales:

It operates locally as well as globally as well in some critical international situations such as war and management of refugees, etc. Of course the main scope of the Relief India Trust is at a national and regional level where it tries to address all issues which are negatively affecting the society or humanity.

There are many diverse fields in which an NGO can operate. Some small scale NGOs with their limited resources cannot completely cover the entire spectrum of NGO fields. But some large scale NGOs like Relief India Trust works in a relatively broad field structure covering almost all the sectors that any NGO can cover. It just depends that how resourceful a particular NGO is. Ideally, the NGOs should cover only those fields which they think that they can manage easily.
