Our world is warming up. How do we know this? The indicators don't lie. The glaciers and ice caps are slowly melting down meanwhile the sea level are rising up. With summertime upon us these days, the sweltering heat is simply something that is difficult to ignore.
Climate change is real. But this doesn't mean we only have to endure the heat within our homes. In fact, we can feel comfortable while at the same time help contribute in making our planet better by simply switching to the use of ceiling fans.
Before the arrival of air-conditioning systems, majority of us have been comforted by the presence of these overhead fan units. Thus, it wouldn't come very hard for us to revert back to this old system. With our planet suffering from the abuses that we are doing, it is time to give back and make little sacrifices. If summertime heat is totally unbearable, you can switch on your AC unit but always remember supplementing its use by also turning on your ceiling fans. The overhead fan units will be able to disperse the cold air all throughout your room in a more even and efficient manner. And because of the cooling efficiency demonstrated, you can even set the thermostat of your AC at a higher temperature resulting to less utility consumption.
Although the ceiling fans are incapable of altering the temperature of the air, their use doesn't contribute to global warming. Do you know that the refrigerants in ACs produce fluorocarbons that contribute to the heating up of our planet? And if you live in tropical and hot regions and you use your AC all day, as much as 70% of your utility consumption can be traced back to these AC machines.
The electricity that we consumed is sourced from power plants which give off a lot of heat and gases. By resorting to the use of low-wattage and energy-efficient overhead fan units, you cut down your utility consumption markedly. A positive chain develops whereby electrical power production is reduced and be distributed for other important uses.
Moreover, there is another positive effect that you can obtain by switching to these pieces of equipment. Because they are energy-efficient, you only pay for less power bills every month. Imagine the savings you can rack up when your overhead fan units can only consume around 50-100 watts as compared to the thousand-watt power needed by your ACs in order to run.
