Getting Back to Nature
A d©cor inspired by nature can implement the complete look or simply just a few elements. If you want to apply the entire style to your home, here are a few tips:
It should be advised that if you're room is small or an odd shape, the theme of nature might not be the best option. The reason for this is if you're going to apply the theme in its entirety then you will need to use darker colours on the wall and busy patterns throughout; both will close in a small space, making it look even smaller.
The best colours to use on the walls are a combination of greens, taupes and creams. The shades of green should be paler, dusty tones instead of the more yellow, lime green style shades. This can be combined with creamy brown tones on other walls, woodwork or even through wallpaper. If you want to implement some floral on to the walls, then search around as there are so many variants on the floral theme. It would be better to go for a paper which will work well with the green/brown paints. By applying wallpaper to the bottom half of the wall, you can then break this up with a dado rail, followed by painting the top half of the wall with a suitable shade of brown, green or even cream if you want to keep things a little more subdued.
Furniture should be wooden where possible or an alternative natural material; this will further enhance the earthy aesthetic of the room. Wooden furniture can be softened with cushions and throws to tie in with the colour scheme on the walls. If you have opted for a more simple design on the walls, then you can liberally use floral prints for your softs furnishings and accessories. Leather sofas and smaller items like ottomans work very well in this context; choose brown over black however.
If you're space is small and you can only apply a selection of elements from this particularly theme of design, then choose autumnal, countryside inspired prints for the wall (or even utilise your own photography), nature inspired ceramics are easy to come by and tend to be more raw looking than say a polished bone china. Additionally, you can bring the room to life with a mix of floral, green and brown cushions and throws in a variety of materials.
