    • 1). Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Control Panel." Click "Add/Remove Programs," then click "Windows Components." Check the option for Remote Desktop. If you want to install the web version of Remote Assistance, click the plus sign next to "Internet Information Services," then check the option labeled "Remote Desktop Web Connection."

    • 2). Click "Next" to install the Remote Desktop service. After the installation completes, reboot your computer. The software installs, but you must enable it on the system for administrators and tech support to connect to the computer.

    • 3). Click the Windows "Start" button again and select "Control Panel." Click "Performance and Maintenance" in the list of options then click "System." This link opens a new window,which displays your main system information.

    • 4). Click the "Remote" tab. Check the option labeled "Allow Remote Assistance invitations to be sent from this computer." Click the "Advanced" button. In the opened window, type an amount of time in minutes for which you want to allow users to connect.

    • 5). Check the box labeled "Allow this computer to be controlled remotely." This option allows administrators to remotely connect and control the computer. Click "OK" to save your settings.
