How to Cook Tender Edamame
- 1). Remove edamame bean pods from their stalks, and pour them into a large bowl. Do not remove the beans from their shells.
- 2). Sprinkle 1 tablespoon salt over the edamame. Make sure the salt is distributed evenly, and rub it into the bean pods with your fingers.
- 3). Allow the edamame to sit in the bowl and absorb the salt for at least 15 minutes.
- 4). Fill a large pot with water, leaving enough space to add the 4 cups of edamame. Pour 1 tablespoon salt into the water, and bring to a full boil.
- 5). Add the edamame to the boiling water. For tender edamame, cook on high heat for 6 minutes.
- 6). Drain the water from the edamame, allow it to cool slightly, and serve. Eat with your fingers, squeezing the beans from the pods. Add additional salt to taste.
