Official Summary:
Kyle’s abilities take a leap forward in the most curious way.
Years before Stephen had severed his relationship with his dad. But when his father is hospitalized in a coma, Stephen visits him and takes Kyle along. Kyle seems to be able to read Stephen's dad's mind and is able to help the two reconcile before it's too late. For the first time since she was released from her pod, Jessi seems to be developing empathy and real human feelings. Sensing this, Emily begs Ballantine to take her off the job; instead he demands that Emily bring Jessi in for "re-booting."
Key Moments:
Everyone acts weird around Lori, who has bruises on her face from the attack at the end of the previous episode; she resists being upset but when she finally gives in, Declan is there for her, which is nice just because it feels like the first time this season Declan has actually smiled. Still no Foss, but Declan blames him for the attack, which we later find out was actually perpetrated by Jessi. Nicole has a kick-butt moment where she stands up to Emily, threatening to call social services if she pulls Jessi out of therapy.
Kyle and Amanda finally kiss.
Cute Trager Family Drama of the Week:
Stephen's indifference to religion, alluded to previously, is explained here as a rebellion against his father.
Biggest Mystery:
Stephen, Lori, and Amanda are directly exposed to Kyle's psychic abilities (Kyle draws Stephen's father's church, finds a note Stephen wrote once, etc.), but they're all completely nonplussed. So communicating with guys in comas is no big deal, I guess.
Bottom Line: Worth Watching?:
This is one of the better expressions of the rollercoaster that Jessi is on as she struggles to understand her feelings (on an entirely different path from what Kyle experienced), and a further development of the bind that Emily is in.
