The folder pane is a mighty tool. It lets you open any folder quickly, and you can move or copy messages by dragging them onto their destination. It's hard to imagine things better, faster and more comfortable.
Users of console email programs such as mutt know better, though, and if you pause to think how you type email addresses in Thunderbird you will agree that auto-completion is the way to go.
Nostalgy, so called in reminiscence of programs like mutt or elm, brings that power to folder navigation in Mozilla Thunderbird. Press "g" and start typing a few letters from the name of your target folder. Chances are it will soon appear in Nostalgy's folder list within easy grasp.
If it is first, just hit "Return" to open the folder. Similar shortcuts exist for copying ("c") and moving ("s") messages, one of the most frequent and now also one of the swiftest actions. Add "Shift", and Nostalgy chooses either the folder last used or by looking at the sender and subject, if you have a filter set up for either.
