    • 1). Read a nonfiction book that explains some facts about the sun. If you do not own a book about the sun, visit your local library and ask the librarian to help you locate a book about the sun. If the book is too difficult for you to read yourself, have an adult or older sibling read the book to you.

    • 2). As you read the book, write down words associated with the sun. If you are unsure what any of the words mean, you may look them up in your book's glossary, if it has one, or look up the definition in a dictionary.

    • 3). Look at the most recent pictures of the sun that NASA has posted online at its website at http://soho.nascom.nasa.gov/data/realtime-images.html. These will give you a better idea of what the sun looks like close-up.

    • 4). Write a few sentences that describe what you learned about the sun by reading the book and looking at the pictures from NASA.

    • 5). Draw or paint a picture of the sun based upon images in the sun book or images found on the NASA website. Try adding the earth and the moon to this drawing or painting, keeping in mind the size or the earth and the moon in relationship to the sun. Label the parts of your drawing, including parts of the sun such as the corona, a solar flare and a sunspot.
