Tips for Furnishing Your Studio Apartment

Furnishing a studio apartment can be a tricky task.
However, if done correctly you can make your apartment feel very homey and cozy, in spite of its size.
Here are a few tips to open up your studio apartment, making it feel more spacious.
First of all, your apartment is one room, it'd help to create rooms within that room to help you organize and manage the space you have.
This could be done by hanging curtains, having rugs for the different areas, partitioning using folding screens, or by using shelves-like a low bookshelf-to do the partitioning.
It is nice to make it feel like there is more than one room so you don't become so stuck in one small area.
Second, have a main focus in your apartment such as your bed or a couch.
If it all blends together and nothing is the main focus it will look cramped and over full.
Have a focal point that can be central to the apartment.
Third, find pieces of furniture that can work as more than one thing so that you don't have to clutter your apartment with as much stuff.
For example, an ottoman can work great as both a coffee table and a place to store things.
A futon mattress can be a bed at night, and a couch during the day.
Find ways to consolidate furniture as much as possible.
It helps to choose light colored or see through furniture (such as tables with glass tops) to help the space feel more open.
Also pick furniture with small legs, such as wire legs.
These two tips will help the space to not feel as crowded.
Dark, bulky furniture will fill it up too fast and make it feel way overcrowded.
You can also make the room feel bigger by hanging mirrors.
A mirror can work wonders at making a room feel more open and bigger than it is.
The biggest thing to remember-try not to overcrowd your space.
Look for ways to open up and consolidate your space.
This will help your apartment to feel open, cozy, and homey rather than squishy.
