On Your Quest for Success, Keep Family First - Wealth Builders
In Corporate America much praise and respect is given to those who have successfully "climbed the corporate ladder" to the top positions in their company. However, many of those who have achieved this level of "success" (I don't considered it that) have sacrificed their relationships with their family in order to get there.
Entrepreneurs are often no different. Many of us who have built an impressive enterprise have done so at the expense of our relationships with our loved ones. Don't get so absorbed in your pursuit that you end up losing the very people who enrich your life and make it mean something...your family.
One of the paradoxes to great success is that sometimes the building of the kingdom can become such a consuming task that we push away and alienate the very people who we were doing it for in the first place.
I can remember getting some great advice from a good friend and mentor regarding some of the "guru's" that I was always in awe of. He told me "make sure that you keep some balance in your business. Also realize that many of the people who are teaching you how to become successful are going through divorces themselves. They have neglected the people at home in order to chase their dreams."
I have never forgotten that advice. And I also make sure that I take time out to infuse some balance into my daily business grind so that it does not overtake my life and place any of the relationships that mean more than life to me in jeopardy.
If you've got somebody at home, drop everything NOW and go tell them you love them.
