How to Bleach White Satin
- 1). Fill a sink with cold water.
- 2). Add the manufacture-recommended amount of gentle detergent and 2 tablespoons of bleach. Stir the water to distribute the detergent and bleach evenly.
- 3). Place the garment in the water, and agitate gently to thoroughly wet the garment.
- 4). Allow the garment to soak for five minutes. Do not overbleach the garment. Chlorine bleach has corrosive effects the longer it sits on a fabric.
- 5). Drain the sink and rinse the garment under cool, running water. Rinse for three to five minutes to remove all bleach thoroughly.
- 6). Lay the garment flat on a white towel. Roll the towel with the garment inside, and press to remove excess water. Do not wring the garment or it will lose its shape.
- 7). Unroll the towel and dry the garment flat. Satin appears discolored while wet. Allow it to dry completely before determining if the bleaching process was successful.
