To qualify for this kind of grant, apply to the specified department. - The Adoption Assistance grant is a subsidy program under the Department of Health and Human Services and the office of Administration for Children and Families. The program is authorized under the Social Security Act. Its main objective is to provide adoption subsidies to cover the expenses of adopting children with special needs. Adoptive parents from tribal organizations, Federal Financial Participation states and Native American tribes all are eligible for the program. Applications for the Adoption Assistance subsidy grant should be submitted to the secretary of health and human services. Upon approval, the amount of the subsidy will be determined.
