Propane Pool Heaters - The Advantages and Disadvantages
This is the gas powered heater that has some good advantages, but also has some disadvantages.
Here is what you need to know.
First, the propane style heater is perfect if you use your pool only once in a while or you have a pool at your vacation home.
This type of heater will be able to heat your pool in a hurry and get you ready for your vacation or for a pool party if that is what you are doing.
However, this type of heater is expensive to run and requires some maintenance if you use it a lot.
This is not the desired heater for those that want to use their pool heater every single day and want to keep their pool good and warm for a longer swimming season.
Second, if you are considering full season use there are two other types of heaters to choose from.
One is an electric heater, which is good for those that struggle to get sunlight on their pool or have an area that just does not get a lot of continual sunlight.
Two is a solar heater, which is the most efficient and the most inexpensive, but will not work well unless you can have it in direct sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours per day.
Last, propane pool heaters are great for certain things and sometimes if you team them up with a solar heater you can use them for a quick blast of heat into your pool, then use the solar heater to maintain that heat throughout the season.
They are great for colder climates and great if you do not plan to use your pool on a very regular basis.
