What a Difference a Weekend Can Make!

I hear this so often that it's necessary for me to explain it the best I can.
People often ask me, "My friend told me that even though I may have burned a lot of calories this week exercising and was good about my diet, if I'm bad over the weekend, I can gain back most of those calories.
Can a bad weekend really do that?" "Yes, it really can" Four words you don't want to hear when you're starting a new diet and exercise program.
Picture this if you will...
You've hit the gym 3 days this week (HARD!) and you've done your 3 hrs of cardio and your diet was spot on (No cheatin' this week!).
If you can just make it through the weekend, you're on track to losing 1 or 2 lbs.
this week.
But now it's Friday night and things are starting to fall apart.
You figure, "Hey, I've been good all week...
I deserve to let loose and eat/drink whatever I want!" Side note - 1 lb of fat = 3500 calories So figuring you've been a good kid all week, you and your friends head over to the Olive Garden/TGIFs/Outback/etc...
and you order any one of their ridiculously high calorie dinners, a couple of drinks along with dessert.
Good goin'...
you just added over 1000 calories back you what you've lost this week.
And it's only Friday! Rinse and repeat on Saturday night and you're practically back where you started the week at.
Since you've created about a 3500 calorie deficit this week and added back over 2000 calories this weekend, you're on track to lose...
a whole pound a month...
talk about a monumental waste of time!! Take home message: the weekend isn't a time to slack off...
it has more influence over your results than you could possibly imagine.
At most, give yourself a cheat MEAL...
not day or two.
Don't let the fact that your weekends have no structure (usually) be an excuse for your diet plan to fall apart.
Stay strong!
