Employers

• If you have been with one employer for a while, check to see whether the company offers scholarships. Many companies offer scholarships to employees who have worked a certain number of hours. There is a process to follow, such as filling out an application, but these scholarships are so much easier to get since there is little or no competition. If you have put in the time with your employer, then you are just as deserving of this scholarship as anyone is.
  
  

High School Counselors

• Set up a meeting with your high school counselor, who should know about different scholarships that are very easy to get. These scholarships may come from individuals, organizations or even the government. Some scholarships are available just because you are a resident of a city, county or state. Your counselor may even know of some obscure scholarships that are available if you do something silly or have an unusual talent. For example, Duck brand duct tape has offered a scholarship to students who use only duct tape to make their prom clothes. Tall Clubs International offers scholarships to those who are of a certain height. Frederick and Mary F. Beckley offer scholarships to students who are left-handed. College Financial Aid Office

• If you have applied to college and have been accepted, check with the financial aid office for a list of easy-to-get scholarships. Some of these scholarships may come directly from the school or from alumni who want to help new students achieve their goals. If you like to write, draw, play an instrument or work with kids there are all sorts of scholarships that you can get.
  
  

Follow Your Major

• Check with organizations that involve your chosen major. If you want to be a doctor, check with organizations in the medical field. Many times these organizations offer grants and scholarships to new students. They may require you to do an internship with them or volunteer for them for a certain number of hours after receiving the scholarship, but the opportunities are endless, depending on what you want to do as a career.
