Norcold Troubleshooting

    Bad Thermocouple

    • Thermocouples refer to temperature sensing devices comprised of a junction between two metals that generates voltage based on temperature differences. When the burner activates in the Norcold refrigerator, the thermocouple signals the control board to switch off the ignitor. A malfunctioning thermocouple may not send the proper signal, resulting in impaired refrigerator function. Replacing the bad thermocouple enables the ignitor to switch off properly.

    Dirty Pilot Light

    • The Norcold refrigerator pilot light refers to the gas flame that ignites the propane tank. Dust or other sediment on the pilot flue can cause it not to light properly. The flue should be cleaned thoroughly of any debris to restore proper pilot light ignition.

    Reduced Performance

    • Replacing the Norcold refrigerator propane tank occasionally can result in air in the gas lines, which can reduce the refrigerator's ability to produce chilled air. Pushing and depressing the ON/OFF button on the Norcold refrigerator two to three times typically purges any air trapped in the lines and restores normal refrigerator function.
