Definition: 192.168.1.2 is the default IP address for certain models of home broadband routers and access points typically sold outside of the United States.

Using 192.168.1.2 to Connect to a Router

If a router is using address 192.168.1.2 on the local network, you can log into the router's console by pointing a Web browser to
  • http://192.168.1.2/

How 192.168.1.2 Works

This IP address is set as default by the manufacturer for some Philips, Senao and a few other routers and access points.

However, any router or computer on a local network can be set to use 192.168.1.2. (To avoid address conflicts, only one device on the network should use it, however.)
192.168.1.2 is a private IPv4 network address meaning that you cannot connect to a router from outside the home network using this address. Instead, you must use the router's public IP address.
