How to Make Outdoor Stone Fountains
- 1). Mix cement with water in the wheelbarrow to the consistency of oatmeal and cover a 12-inch pot with one inch of cement, using the trowel. Press stones in the cement and let the cement dry for 24 hours. Repeat with the 17 and 23-inch pots.
- 2). Securely plug the drainage hole at the bottom of the 23-inch plant pot with the waterproof caulk, using the caulk gun. Let the caulk dry for at least one hour and test by filling the pot with water to make sure the seal is secure.
- 3). Position the 23-inch pot in the desired spot near a grounded outdoor electrical outlet.
- 4). Insert one end of the plastic tubing in the pump. Place the pump in the bottom of the 23-inch pot.
- 5). Position the pump power cord over the top rim of the 23-inch pot to the electrical outlet.
- 6). Place the bricks in the bottom of the 23-inch pot on either side of the pump. Insert the tubing through the upturned bottom drainage hole of the 8-inch pot, which will rest on the bricks. Caulk around the hole with the waterproof sealant.
- 7). Insert the tubing through the right side up 17-inch drainage hole and seal with the waterproof caulk. Insert the tubing through the upturned bottom drainage hole of a 12-inch pot and seal with the waterproof caulk. Insert the tubing through the right side of the 12-inch pot drainage hole and seal with the waterproof caulk.
- 8). Cut the plastic tubing to 2-inches lower than the rim of the top terra cotta pot. Fill the entire structure with water and plug the pump into the electrical outlet.
