It was founded by U.
S.
Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in held on April 22, 1970 and is celebrated even now worldwide.
Over 20 million people participated that year and ever since every country celebrates this day.
This month we have already celebrated for the 40th time Earth Day.
Some communities even celebrate a whole week of environmental activities simply called Earth Week.
Other significance of 22nd April: - Birthday of Vladimir Lenin, leader of the Bolsheviks - Birthday of Julius Sterling Morton, the founder of Arbor Day - Birthday of John Muir, naturalist and preservationist, founder of Sierra Club Here are some tips to properly celebrate Earth Day: - Plant a tree, a flower or whatever would make you happy - Clean out your garage and start recycling - Buy yourself a mobile phone that uses solar batteries - Volunteer or attend Earth Day activities - Take your bike or walk instead of going by car - Save some energy, read a book instead of watching TV - Save water, take a shower instead of a long bath - Set up a compost bin in your garden - Convince at least one friend to do the same as you The list could go on, as there are many things each and every one of us could do to go easy on our Planet, yet there is so much more to accomplish.
If you are not the gardener type, no worries, you can also participate in Earth Day activities.
Call your local professionals and they will take care of your garden.
