The Power of Positive Affirmations to Change Your Life

What are positive affirmations? Positive affirmations are phrases that you repeat out loud or to yourself, or maybe you just write them down numerous times in some sort of systematic way.
By systematic, I mean you have set some sort of intention.
Why are you saying/writing what you are saying/writing? The true power of affirmations lies in the intention behind them and how focused you can allow yourself to become on that intention.
Let's take an example: "I joyfully give and receive love.
" If you just say this phrase over and over and hope something will touch the depths of your subconscious without you really doing very much work, you'll probably be disappointed.
The affirmation is like a framework for you to work in.
You swim in a pool.
You interact with your subconscious mind in the space you create by doing affirmations the right way.
What is the right way to practice? You really tap into the power of positive affirmations by incorporating them into a daily practice.
Just like anything else, you get better the more you actually do it.
The more you practice, the deeper your practice can become.
Now, what do I mean by "deeper?" I am talking about bringing more of yourself into your practice.
Clarify your intentions, bring in your spiritual guide(s) if you have one or many, utilize visualizations and allow yourself to become emotional.
In reference to the previous example, "I joyfully give and receive love," decide exactly why you are saying these words.
What do you want to achieve by coming to believe these words? Clarify, clarify, clarify.
Now, what emotions come up when you think about the love in your life and the ways you have interacted with the concept over the course of your life? Do you feel sadness, anger, shame, excitement, anxiety or something else? Let the emotions that come up flow through you and take over.
Don't worry, feelings are not facts.
They will pass.
And at any time, if you feel unsafe or uncomfortable with your practice, you can stop or seek professional advice.
You are in control.
If you choose to continue, see if any visualizations came up while you were experiencing your feelings.
Did you have memories of specific times, places or people? You can hold these images in your head or create new images to focus on like a picture that comforts you or a drawing you make.
You can even bring in your sense of hearing by finding a sound to expose yourself to while practicing your affirmations.
This could be a song or something as simple as the sound of the breeze rustling through the trees.
How to really make affirmations work: just get started! By incorporating as many of your senses as possible, you are intensifying the effect the affirmation will have on you.
Now, this might be starting to sound complicated or maybe just like too much effort.
A lot of us don't have time to sit around for hours custom-designing our environments and meditating on our thoughts and feelings.
Don't worry, you can start small.
There is no way to practice affirmations wrong.
Just remember that you can always deepen the process and move further into the depths of your mind and its capabilities.
