If you have a large number of envelopes that you need to address, you don't want to do this by hand or print each envelope individually. Programs are available that allow you to create labels or print both the return and recipient addresses directly on the envelope. All of these programs require a fee to use. - The Easy Personal Labels 2.7 program allows you to create one or several sheets of labels for your envelopes and build a database of your most commonly used addresses, which you can use for future mailings. You can print addresses directly on your labels or use an import/export function to import your existing address book. The program also comes with a phone dialer that lets you call people within your address book. It is compatible with the following size labels: 1 by 2 5/8, 1/2 by 1 3/4 and 4 by 1 1/3 inches. It is compatible with Windows 95, 98 and Millennium (Me). This is a shareware program, which means that you can use it for free for a limited time. Once that time period expires, you must purchase the program, which costs $20 in 2010.
- This program is compatible with all envelope sizes, and it allows you to print addresses in three different formats: laser, landscape or portrait. You can customize the color and font size of your text. You also can add a bitmap (.bmp) image to your envelope. Envelope Printer 7.0 allows you to keep a database of your addresses, and you can add to or edit this database. Other features include allowing you to add personal messages or Postal Numeric Encoding Technique (POSTNET) barcodes to envelopes. This is a shareware program, and it costs $15 in 2010.
- This program is for home office or business users and allows you to create bulk mailings. It uses a wizard format to walk you through creating your envelopes and can verify the correct zip code for your address. You can customize the look of your envelope and use this program for direct mail promotional campaigns. You also can use the program to sort your standard and first-class mail. This program is compatible with Microsoft Office 2000 or Windows XP, and it costs about $212 in 2010.
