How to Get a Palm Treo Flash Phone to Work With Other Providers
- 1). Remove the battery from the Palm Treo and locate the white product sticker located under the battery, on the back of the phone. Write down the number next to the letter's IMEI. The IMEI code dictates the exact SIM unlock code for your device.
- 2). Contact the provider you purchased the Treo from and tell the customer care representative that you need to obtain a "SIM subsidy unlock code." This is the industry term for the unlock you need. The rep files a request for the code on your behalf. They do not have the code at the time of the call. An off-line group processes the request usually within 72 hours. Usually, the rep emails the code to you. If it is not, the representative tells you to call back after 72 hours.
- 3). Place the other carrier's SIM card into the phone and turn it on. The Treo recognizes that the SIM card is not the correct carrier's SIM and prompts you for the code.
- 4). Enter the SIM unlock code provided to you by your old carrier to unlock the device for the new SIM card.
