Embodying Mercedes-Benz new design idiom of younger, fresher and power accentuated through elegance, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon graces the road with a strikingly intensified exterior and interior - a dynamic re-interpretation that remains unmistakably Mercedes.

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class has undergone an extensive face-lift and the new look is instantly apparent. Curvaceous one-piece headlamps replace the angular two-part units on the outgoing car, while the front bumper and bonnet have also been revised. All models now feature Mercedes three-pointed star on the chrome-finish radiator grille. The powerful profile with tapered side lines, distinctive arrow-shaped front end and muscular rear section speak of self-assurance, presence and precision.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class interior is spacious and one of high quality woods and upholstery variants which highlight the saloon interior individual style and allow for a host of combinations with additional optional extras. The idea is for the occupants to want for nothing more:

Examples: the optional active multicontour seats (awarded the quality seal by the "Aktion Gesunder Rcken e.V.", a German association promoting products for healthy backs) with separately controlled air chambers and which are settable to an individual stature and seat cushion length, seat side bolsters and lumbar support that can be adjusted pneumatically; the THERMATIC automatic climate control that allows for individual temperature and air distribution for the interiors left and right sides; the optional THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control allowing for further individuality between the driver, front passenger and second row; and the sliding sunroof that increases draught-free air circulation and counteracts window mist up in unfavourable weather / panoramic sliding sunroof (standard for E 500 and E 63 AMG models) with additional features like an optimized net wind deflector.

Then there is the optional climatised driver and front passenger seats. These improve ride comfort even further on longer trips and reduce perspiration thanks to a pleasant air flow and selectable seat heating. There are fans integrated into the seat upholstery which uniformly distribute a flow of air in three intensity levels under the leather backrest and cushion covers.

Standard with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon is the memory package, designed to make the frequent change of drivers much easier. This stores the individual settings for each driver seat, steering wheel and exterior mirrors for up to three drivers.

Agility and Low Fuel Consumption

When it comes to the powerplant, new-generation 4-cylinder engines with direct petrol injection power the E-Class for the first time, resulting from the development objective of increased output with reduced consumption. The 4-cylinder powerplants come in the E 200 and E 250, V6 engines from the new BlueDIRECT engine family with low fuel consumption and increased dynamics power the E 300 and E 350 models, V8 engines power the E 500, while the E 63 AMG and E 63 AMG S-Model make use of the AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine.

Much like BMW EfficientDynamics and Audi Vorsprung durch Technik, Mercedes Benz's BlueEFFICIENCY incorporates efficiency technologies and measures based on optimizing fuel consumption and emission levels, with a mind to easing the burden on the environment.

Mercedes-Benz - as is the case with other luxury cars be it BMW, Audi or Lexus for example - also strives to make sure the driving experience they offer includes first class entertainment and accurate navigation. Occupants inside the E-Class are treated to an Audio 20 CD system operated through the multifunction steering wheel and with a 14.7 cm colour display and telephone keypad along with a Bluetooth interface with hands-free function.

The optional Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system (standard for E 63 AMG) with Dolby Digital 5.1 and output of 610 watts helps create even more of an acoustic driving experience, with 14 high-performance loudspeakers and the Logic 7 multi-channel, surround-sound technology. Optional is Mercedes new COMAND multimedia system, which combines all audio, telephone and navigation functions and also includes the Speed Limit Assist function

Safe Driving

BMW has BMW ConnectedDrive. Mercedes-Benz has the Integral Safety Concept. The engineers at the world luxury car leaders are consistently raising the bar in the area of safety technologies. Mercedes Integral Safety Concept takes vehicles ever closer to the vision of accident-free driving by dividing safety into four phases, starting with the first phase that recognizes the majority of accidents can be prevented before they happen. This concept employs various measures to support safe driving and to help bring critical situations under control, including anti-lock braking system (ABS), acceleration skid control (ASR), ATTENTION ASSIST and 360 degree camera (optional), Electronic Stability Program ESP®, front row airbags, driver kneebag and front row NECK-PRO head restraints, pelvisbags, sidebags and windowbags.
