How to Replace an L36 Serpentine Engine Belt
- 1). Open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal cable from the battery with a wrench. Locate the belt routing diagram near the front of the vehicle under the hood or consult the owner's manual for the routing diagram.
- 2). Attach the belt tensioner tool to the belt tensioner pulley and push downward. This will cause the tensioner pulley to separate from the belt. Slip the serpentine belt off of the tensioner pulley and slowly release the tensioner pulley.
- 3). Pull the serpentine belt off of the remaining pulleys. Route the new serpentine belt on the pulleys except the belt tensioner pulley, according to the routing diagram.
- 4). Push the belt tensioner tool downward to move the tensioner pulley. Slip the belt onto the tensioner pulley and slowly move the pulley back into place with the belt tensioner tool.
- 5). Inspect the serpentine belt to make sure the belt is properly aligned. Reconnect the negative terminal cable to the battery and close the hood.
