Archiving and archive storage has been around for millennia's with many clay tablets being found that date back to the third and second millennia BC, the discovery of these ancient archives have been fundamental in understanding ancient alphabets, languages, literatures and politics. Back to the present, archiving has become more secure and advanced as our technology improves.

If you constantly run out of space for archived documents and records, your are not the only business that has this issue. Often destroying these archives is not an option, as they are required for a future point of reference or original document of importance. This is where a reliable, safe and secure off-site company that specialises in providing state of the art security, cataloguing and indexing comes in handy.

Many businesses lack the space or funds to properly store and maintain their archives. Often these businesses will look to store these in a secure location, but with so many options to choose from it's hard to know which one best suits your needs.

Ideally you want somewhere with the necessary security to ensure your documents remain safe and protected. Most if not all will have 24/7 CCTV both internally and externally, some even have infrared motion sensors and stringent PIN or verbal-recognition access controls. You'll want to ensure that their staff have been checked by the police to ensure that not just anyone will have access to your archives. Fire and hazard procedures should also be in place, with both alarms and fire protection countermeasures and instant emergency contact.

It's also important to know what kind of boxes your physical archives will be stored in. You will want an archive box that is sturdy and will last a long time. Durable multiple-thickness cardboard boxes are ideal and should be able to be easily transported, but they should also be easy to access in case you need to retrieve a document or record for use.

Whichever Archive Storage Company you end up choosing, make sure they are either are equipped to properly destroy your records or outsource it to an accredited security destruction agency. All archives that need to be destroyed should be destroyed the same day as the order is issued and go through a two stage shredding process to ensure your documents won't be able to be reused or reread.

Enjoy peace of mind in knowing that your documents and records are securely and properly archived in a facility that offers state of the art security.
