How to Make Your Own Gondor Banner for Miniatures
- 1). Start up your graphics design program and choose to create a new image. Design the Gondor banner your miniature army will carry. Banners generally come in either a long triangle with the flat connected to the flagpole, or as long rectangles. Create an outline for your banner in the desired shape and then fill the banner with your chosen background color, either navy blue or black. Draw a white tree in the largest area of the banner, and top the tree with seven stars evenly surrounding the tree's boughs. Add any other minor designs desired to the banner and then save the image.
- 2). Copy the image and create a mirrored version of it, placing the mirrored version butted tightly against the original. Once printed, you can fold the two images so that the flag appears the same as seen from either side. Save the completed image.
- 3). Print the image onto a piece of cardstock. Check that the image is the desired size for your banner, if not then adjust the size of the printout so that the banner is created in the size you wish.
- 4). Spray the banner with a thin layer of clear coat spray to protect the printed picture. Allow the spray to dry for two hours and then cut the printed banner from the cardstock using a hobby knife.
- 5). Cut a piece of piano wire to act as a flagpole to the desired length with a pair of wire cutters. Fold the banner at the midway point and wrap the fold around the end of the piano wire. Mold the fold carefully around the wire to remove any gaps.
- 6). Lightly layer the inside of the flag with white glue, taking care not to dampen the cardstock. Place the flag onto the wire and press the two sides together for 30 seconds to set the glue. Allow the glue to dry for an hour before attaching the banner to a banner man.
