How to Make Paper From Torn Up Paper
- 1). Remove the glass and backing cardboard from the two frames. The size of your frame determines the size of the paper sheets.
- 2). Cut a piece of plastic screen the same size as your picture frames. Staple the screen to one of the frames, pulling it taught and securing all the edges completely.
- 3). Tear the scrap paper into 1-inch pieces. Place the scraps in a bowl and add enough warm water to cover the paper pieces completely. Soak the scraps overnight or for at least 4 hours.
- 4). Measure 1/4 cup of paper pulp and place it into a blender. Add 1 quart of water to the blender. Blend for 1 minute or until the paper pulp develops the texture of cooked oatmeal.
- 5). Pour the blended pulp into a plastic dish tub. Add more water until the mixture is approximately 90 percent water. Stir the pulp and water together with your hands.
- 6). Hold the screen frame with the staple-side up. Set the second frame on top. The second frame prevents the paper from sliding off the screen.
- 7). Hold the frames vertically and slide them into the pulp. Tilt the frames so they are horizontal under the surface of the pulp.
- 8). Lift the screen straight up from the tub, holding it horizontally. Hold it above the tub until liquid has drained off.
- 9). Remove the empty frame from the top of the screen and set it aside. Flip the screen upside down onto a clean towel, so the paper-coated side rests directly on the towel.
- 10
Pat the back of the screen with a sponge, soaking up the excess liquid from the paper. Lift the screen slowly, patting with the sponge, until the paper falls from the screen and rests on top the towel. - 11
Dry the paper on the towel overnight. Peel it off the towel once it is dried.
