How to Send Chocolates in the USA
- 1). Line the bottom of the box with a stiff piece of foam to help with insulation. Ideally, the foam should have grooves that the chocolate can securely set in which prevent the chocolate from shifting around. Grooves can be carved into the foam with a utility knife if desired.
- 2). Lay the chocolate on top of the foam and cover it with a second piece of foam. If necessary, use several small piece of foam to make a tight fight. There must be at least 1-inch of space between the foam and the top of the box.
- 3). Lay a frozen gel pack on top of the foam. Use two frozen gel packs if the box is 12-inches wide or more. The gel packs will help keep the inside of the box cool.
- 4). Tape the box shut and wrap it with two layers of packaging paper. Write the recipient's name and address on the paper. Write "Fragile" on the box to reduce the chance of rough handling.
- 5). Send the package with overnight shipping, whether it be through the post office or other shipping service. While this type of shipping may cost more, it reduces the chance of melted chocolate.
