How do I Remove the Front Cross Member That Acts As a Bumper on a 96 Grand Cherokee?
- 1). Remove the retaining screws with a screwdriver while holding the grille in place, and remove the grille.
- 2). Pull the headlight assemblies away from the vehicle over the pivot studs and remove the assemblies.
- 3). Remove the retaining screws with a screwdriver while holding the side marker lights in place, and remove the side marker lights.
- 4). Remove the retaining screws with a screwdriver while holding the turn signal markers in place, and remove the turn signal markers.
- 5). Remove the retainers that hold the front fascia that covers the cross-member. The retainers can be pulled out with a pair of pliers.
- 6). Remove the plastic rivets holding the fender liners to the front fascia. These can be pulled with pliers or cut with a small pair of wire cutters.
- 7). Remove the front fascia from the vehicle.
- 8). Remove the mounting bolts that hold the cross-member in place with a socket and ratchet. Once the bolts are removed, the cross-member can be removed.
